FSCA warns public against individuals impersonating International Capital Markets Pty Ltd
Pretoria - The Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) has warned the public against doing any financial services related business with a group of individuals that are impersonating the International Capital Markets Pty Ltd (IC Markets) brand to defraud unsuspecting financial customers.
The regulator said it had come to its attention that the individuals target their victims on
WhatsApp and FACEBOOK social media platforms:

https://www.facebook.com/people/IC‐Platform/100081463665287/
https://www.facebook.com/shirinda.douglas.5,falsely claiming to be agents or
representatives of the IC Markets, which is an authorised financial services provider (FSP
number 50715).
These individuals, said the regulator, impersonate the representatives of IC Markets to get investment funds from individuals seeking trading opportunities and profits. The impersonators used the following email addresses amongst others to solicit funds from the public:
- icmarketfxtrading@gmail.com and
- icmarketsinvester127@gmail.com
The FSCA said IC Markets has confirmed that they are not associated with the impersonators and that these scammers are using their brand name, logos and trademark without permission to offer investment opportunities and dupe the public.
It is the FSCA’s view that these individuals are conducting unregistered financial services business and providing advisory and intermediary services without the necessary authorisation.
Members of the public should always check that an entity or individual is registered with the FSCA to provide Financial Advisory & Intermediary Services and what category of advice it is that the entity is registered to provide.
The FSCA said it would like to remind customers who wish to conduct financial services with an institution or person to check beforehand with the FSCA on either the toll-free number (0800 110 443) or on https://www.fsca.co.za/Fais/Search_FSP.htm whether such institution or person is authorised to render financial services.
