Viviene Pearson appointed SAIA Acting Chief Executive
Johannesburg - Following the mutually agreed separation between the South African Insurance Association (SAIA) and its previous Chief Executive, Mr Barry Scott, the association has today announced the appointment of Ms Viviene Pearson, as its new Acting Chief Executive, with immediate effect.
"Ms Pearson's role will be to lead the executive team and drive the implementation of the Board's strategy for SAIA until a permanent Chief Executive is appointed"said Chairman of the SAIA Board, Mr Themba Gamedze.
Mr Gamedze confirmed that during this interim period the SAIA Board will be engaging more on the way forward for the organisation. "The Board needs to determine where we want to be as an industry in the next five to seven years," he added.
"I applaud the SAIA Executive team for the professional manner in which they have supported the SAIA Board and conducted themselves during this time of intense turbulence and uncertainty" he said.
The Executive team will work with the Acting Chief Executive as a single team to provide overall leadership to ensure the success of the SAIA and the continued sustainability of the short-term insurance industry.
"The SAIA Board will work with the Acting Chief Executive in meeting the challenges and the leadership team will in turn be able to count on its support in delivering the high quality service to the industry that our members have come to expect" Mr Gamedze concluded.
