Schalk Malan joins Standard Bank's insurance arm
Johannesburg - Schalk Malan has been appointed as Head of Insurance South Africa for Standard Bank's Insurance and Asset Management Business Unit.
This appointment marks a significant step in the Group's strategy to strengthen its insurance cluster and deliver greater value to clients, financial advisers, and stakeholders.
In his new role, Malan will lead the strategic direction and operations of Liberty's Retail Life and Saving and Corporate Benefits business lines as well as Standard Insurance Limited (SIL).
He will report to the Chief Executive of Liberty and Insurance and Asset Management, Standard Bank Group, Yuresh Maharaj.
Renowned for his entrepreneurial spirit, Malan is a qualified actuary and a seasoned insurance executive with a proven track record of building high-performing teams, scaling operations, and delivering client-centric solutions. Most notably, he founded and led BrightRock from a start-up to one of South Africa's key risk insurers.
