SAIA Board Chairperson, Herman Schoeman, hands over baton to Thusang Mahlangu
Johannesburg - The South African Insurance Association (SAIA), which held its Annual General Meeting at the beginning of August 2023, has announced that its Chairperson, Mr Herman Schoeman, has retired from the SAIA Board.
The non-life insurance association made up of over 57 non-life insurance companies said Mr Schoeman officially stepped down as the Chairperson of the SAIA Board effective 31 August 2023, paving the way for the election of a new Chairperson, Mr Thusang Mahlangu, current Chief Executive Officer of Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS), who was the Deputy Chairperson of the SAIA Board since 2022.
The association further announced that Mr Garth Napier, Old Mutual Insure Managing Director, was elected SAIA Board Deputy Chairperson effective 1 September 2023.
SAIA Chief Executive, Ms. Viviene Pearson says: “On behalf of the SAIA Board, management and staff, we would like to convey our gratitude to Mr Schoeman, our out-going Chairperson, who has served the SAIA Board and the industry with so much dedication and commitment. His leadership, experience and expertise added enormous value to the SAIA Board, SAIA and the industry at large”.
Ms Pearson said she welcomes Mr Mahlangu and Mr Napier in their new positions on the SAIA Board and pledges SAIA’s full support to both.
