Auto & General steps in to assitst learning centre just outside of Polokwanele
Polokwanele - Insurer, Auto & General recently stepped in to save a dire situation at the Khubane Learning Centre in Cloesdam Village, Ga-Matlala, after it was targeted by criminals who took off with essential supplies including food, baby formula, stationary and other necessities needed for the centre's daily operations.
The learning Centre, based 90km from Polokwane, takes care of 40 children aged between one and five, and operates solely on funds from sponsors and employs eight teachers.
It is believed that the criminals gained access to the Centre by cutting the wire fence, and breaking a window, two wooden doors and two security doors. While the Centre had buildings insurance in place, which covered the damaged structural elements, it didn't have insurance for the items that were stolen.
"When assessing the damage, the Auto&General team were deeply touched by the passion displayed by the staff at Khubane Learning Centre. Despite the lack of funds and with no running water at the premises, the principal and teachers are dedicated to enriching young minds and run the Centre at an exceptional standard.
"Auto&General is committed to restoration and with this promise in mind, our team decided to donate baby essentials, groceries, toiletries, stationery, netballs and soccer balls, to the Centre. These donations were accepted with immense gratitude," says Johanni Jennings, Head of Marketing at Auto & General.
Jennings adds that in a world full of uncertainty and unpredictability, care and compassion goes a long way.
