Sanlam Brings Premier League to South African Fans for Free
Cape Town - Sanlam, Africa's largest non-banking financial services provider, is making the English Premier League accessible to all South Africans through its broadcast sponsorship on SABC1. The company believes that top-tier football content should not be exclusive to those who can afford it and is dedicated to democratizing the sport for all.
With an average global audience of 12.3 million people per match, Sanlam's sponsorship will provide South African fans with equal access to watch their favourite teams live. According to Karl Socikwa, Group Executive of Market Development & Sustainability at Sanlam, the company's decision to democratize the EPL is part of its philosophy of inclusivity and its purpose of empowering generations of Africans to live with confidence.
"Sanlam recognizes that sport inspires young people to dream big and imagine a better life for themselves while teaching invaluable skills that support a life of confidence on and off the field. We are committed to bolstering Africa's young football talent as we have invested in youth football over the years, and our hope is that our sponsorship of the EPL broadcast will allow South Africans to be inspired by their heroes.
In addition to sponsoring the broadcast of 19 matches, Sanlam is launching its Strike with Confidence campaign. The campaign aims to engage soccer fans by giving them a chance to win big with weekly prizes, an exclusive Premier League private viewing experience, and a grand prize of a VIP live Premier League experience in the UK worth R100,000. Fans can access the Sanlam Premier League App by visiting strikewithconfidence.sanlam.co.za.
Fans can catch the remaining EPL matches live on SABC1 on May 13th, May 20th, and May 28th.
