OMC MD Prabashini Moodley listed as one of Africa's top CEOs

Cape Town - Old Mutual Corporate this week announced that its Managing Director, Prabashini Moodley, has been named by Africa.com as one of the top 50 women CEOs leading corporate Africa.

The Africa.com Definitive List of Women CEOs identified women leaders of publicly listed companies in 21 African countries – a list of more than 1400 entities. These were whittled down to a list of 355 based on a minimum market capitalisation of $150 million.

Teressa Clarke, Chairman of Africa.com. said: “We undertook a rigorous data-driven research project to identify the women who run the largest, most complex businesses on the African continent. The result of this undertaking is this most definitive list”.

Moodley runs one of the top three divisions of Old Mutual, the 2nd largest from a revenue measure. Old Mutual Corporate is one of the leading providers of retirement fund solutions, investments, group risk benefits and consulting in SA and beyond.

To qualify for the recognition, women leaders had to hold a CEO or managing director title at the head of one of the eligible companies. The titles were then vetted further by examining where the women fit within the company’s overall organisational structure. This is to ensure that the women hold authority that is consistent with their title.

Moodley joined the Old Mutual Group in 2002 and qualified as an actuary soon after. She has served in various roles across Personal Finance, Old Mutual Investment Group, Mass and Foundation Cluster and a secondment to Old Mutual Mexico. Prior to her current role, she served as the Chief Financial Officer of the Mass and Foundation Cluster. She holds a Bachelor of Business Science in Actuarial Science from the University of Cape Town.

“Moodley leads a division that represents almost a third of Old Mutual’s total revenue, showing her mettle in a world dominated by men.
