OM appoints new lead independent director
Johannesburg - Old Mutual is pleased to announce that, through an independently facilitated process, Dr Sizeka Magwentshu-Rensburg has been elected as Lead Independent Director of Old Mutual to succeed Peter de Beyer, with effect from the close of the Company’s annual general meeting on Friday, 21 May 2021. Dr Magwentshu-Rensburg has been a Board member for 3 years and is the Chairperson of the Responsible Business Committee, and also serves on the Corporate Governance & Nominations and Remuneration committees of the Company.
Dr Magwentshu-Rensburg is an independent non-executive director. She has extensive experience spanning over 25 years in the Small, Medium and Micro Enterprise (“SMME”) development space in South Africa and Southern Africa. She served on various boards of state-owned enterprises and was a member of the South African Ministerial Advisory committee on SMME Development (Ministry of Economic Development).
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Business Administration from Webster University, Master of Business Administration from Webster University and DPhil in Business Management from the University of Johannesburg
Other directorships: Dr Magwentshu-Rensburg is a non-executive director of the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa SOC Limited and chairperson of the investments committee. She is also a director of Rensiza Investments Proprietary Limited.
